The communicator can support several operating modes. More information about these modes can be found in the communicator's data sheet. Examples of using the communicator with the Mikron UPP data acquisition system in various modes are provided in the document "Communicator Application Options." The MK-1 communicator is programmed using PrgComm software and the newer PrgMK software. The new PrgMK software differs only in that it allows for cable-free programming over WiFi. Software installation is the same for both software.

The MK-1 Communicator is designed for connecting to GSM/UMTS/LTE cellular networks when building remote control and monitoring systems, telemetry, communications, data transmission, etc. It can be used for a smooth transition from 2G networks to high-speed 3G and 4G networks. It can be used with data collection devices that only support CSD connections and are unable to connect via IP address when collecting data.
