Igor Petrishenko: Popular tourist sites should become points of growth for the districts

14.08.2019. Tourist attractions should become growth points for the districts. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Igor Petrishenko today at a meeting of the interdepartmental expert coordination Council on tourism under the Council of Ministers of Belarus. "There are objects attractive for tourists in every region, and they can become points of growth for the districts," Igor Petrishenko expressed confidence.

However, according to him, the potential of this direction is not fully used. Competent presentation, promotion of such facilities can stimulate both inbound and domestic tourism.

"In this regard, much depends on the local authorities. Attention should be paid not only to the restoration and preservation of historical and cultural heritage, but also to their inclusion in tourist routes," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Igor Petrishenko stressed that this issue requires a systematic approach, it is necessary to involve the spheres of culture and education to transport and trade. A broad information program is important, the routes in turn should be included in the offers of travel companies.

Proper usage of the tourist potential capable of bringing the regions of substantial economic effect. By the way, at the end of 2018, the export of tourist services amounted to $230 million, which is 14% higher than in 2017. The growth of exports of tourist services is observed this year.
