HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ENTERPRISE
The enterprise was established on July 1, 1973 as the Minsk Tram and Trolleybus Repair Plant. In 1994, the enterprise produced the first trolleybus model 101 in the Republic of Belarus. In 1998, the enterprise was the first in the CIS to produce a fully low-floor articulated trolleybus model 333. In 1999, the enterprise developed the first tram car model 1M in the Republic of Belarus.
In 2011, the enterprise was reorganized, as a result of which the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus registered the Belkommunmash holding. Belkommunmash OJSC was renamed into Belkommunmash Holding Management Company Open Joint-Stock Company, the structure of which included Belkommunmash OJSC, Scientific and Technical Production Center Private Enterprise, and Service and Sales Center Private Enterprise.
In 2014-2015, the company developed and produced a prototype of the 32100D trolleybus with a lithium-titanate storage system, which allows for a range of up to 15 km without using an overhead contact network. In 2016, the company was the first among the CIS countries to launch serial production of articulated electric buses of the E433 model, and also launched the production of its own charging stations.
Since 2020, the company has been using energy storage devices of its own design based on lithium cells in the production of electric buses and trolleybuses with an increased range.
In 2022, the company presented three innovative products: a C45700 electric cargo vehicle; a fully low-floor tram car of the T811 model (using a motor bogie of its own design), and also the first in the CIS high-speed charging complex of the SZA-K1 model in the Brilevichi microdistrict in Minsk. In 2024, the three-section tram car model T856 and the tram car body model T701, designed for the modernization of parks using existing tram bogies, were launched into production.
GEOGRAPHY OF DELIVERY
At the moment, there is a global trend towards electrification and the transition of motor transport from internal combustion engines to more environmentally friendly electric engines, including such a transition is observed for urban public transport in non-CIS countries.
OJSC “HMC “BKM” has experience in supplying its products to 90 cities in 15 countries of the world, primarily to the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, as well as to such countries as Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Mongolia, Argentina.
In addition, OJSC “HMC “BKM” has extensive experience in organizing joint production, including in countries such as Great Britain, Poland, and Romania.
The company is still interested in diversifying the export of its own products and is ready to cooperate with countries of the far abroad, including the countries of the so-called "far arc": Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, considering various forms of interaction with all of the above regions and offering a wide range of environmentally friendly urban electric transport for the needs of cities and towns in all regions of the world.
The equipment of OJSC “HMC “BKM” has a "Low Emission" certificate with a carbon dioxide emission level (CO2) significantly lower than that of other manufacturers. At the moment, OJSC “HMC “BKM” is working on deliveries and the creation of a joint venture in the Republic of Cuba, together with other Belarusian automobile manufacturing companies, it is sending materials for development with other Latin American countries, for example, Nicaragua.
With the assistance of the Ministry of Industry and foreign institutions of the Republic of Belarus, it is establishing relations with partners from India, Pakistan, Vietnam, the Philippines and Mongolia. Recently, the enterprise has been operating on the African continent with such countries as Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and taking into account the countries of the Middle East: UAE, Egypt, Morocco.
TRUSTED TRANSPORT
Often, the climatic and geographical conditions of almost all of the above regions, as well as, in some cases, their dense population, dictate special conditions for the technical characteristics of transport. The equipment of OJSC “HMC “BKM” is simultaneously capable of taking into account both the requirements for the comfort of passengers and drivers, and the special climatic conditions of the operating territory, as evidenced by the wide and already established geography of deliveries.
Each project of OJSC “HMC “BKM” is a unique configuration, fully adapted to operating conditions to ensure the most comfortable transportation. The basis of the electric transport of OJSC “HMC “BKM” is made of steel with increased corrosion resistance, which significantly increases the service life of the transport. The space inside the vehicle: the passenger compartment and the driver's compartment are equipped with independent climate control systems for cooling and heating.
At the same time, it is worth mentioning that the transport passes all prescribed tests, the successful confirmation of which allows it to meet the requirements in various regions where the equipment is sold. The presence of a European type approval of a vehicle confirms the compliance of transport models manufactured by OJSC “HMC “BKM” with the latest international safety standards.
In turn, highly qualified service guarantees the longevity of operation of equipment of our own production, regardless of the geography of operation, time passed, and distance.
The infrastructure of electric transport in cities in remote regions has been abolished in most cases, is absent, or has power outages. The increased autonomous running reserve of equipment of OJSC “HMC “BKM” allows movement on new routes that are not equipped with an overhead contact network, extending existing routes, and also ensuring the possibility of movement when the power supply in the contact network is completely disconnected. At the same time, tram cars and trolleybuses have the function of charging storage batteries while moving under the contact network.
The large area of low-floor transport in the passenger compartment, taking into account the capacitive storage batteries, allows passengers to be more comfortably accommodated in many cities and towns. An important factor is the flexible pricing policy for the products of OJSC “HMC “BKM”, which is capable of matching and competing with the pricing policy of such active manufacturers of electric transport as Chinese ones.
