18.05.2018. Belarus plans to increase the science intensity of gross domestic product to 0.65% by the end of 2018. This was reported by the Chairman of the State Committee on science and technology Alexander Shumilin at the conference "Economic growth of the Republic of Belarus: globalization, innovation, sustainability", the correspondent of BelTA. "This year, for the first time in recent decades, the science intensity of the gross domestic product will grow and will be 0.6-0.65%. Before that, it was 0.5%, " said Alexander Shumilin. By 2020, the goal is to bring this figure to 1%.


Gradually, the volume of funding for science will increase. "In the modern world, science is the basis for building a strong and prosperous state. Thanks to research and development, new industries and entire sectors of the economy are being created," Alexander Shumilin said.

The Chairman of the State Committee on science and technology said that conditions for the development of innovative sites, as well as the implementation of research and development work are improving in Belarus. "One of the priorities of the national innovation system is the development of small and medium-sized businesses. For this purpose, subjects of innovation infrastructure are being created. At the end of 2017, there are 24 such entities in Belarus, including 14 science and technology parks, 9 technology transfer centers and the Belarusian innovation Fund. In June of this year, decree No. 105 will come into force, which will give the right to technoparks to create innovative development funds, the funds of which will be used to Finance projects carried out by residents of technoparks and purchase the necessary equipment," he said.

Alexander Shumilin reminded that this year it is planned to create at least 3 technoparks in the regions - we are talking about the cities of Borisov, Bobruisk and Orsha.

XI international scientific and practical conference "Economic growth of the Republic of Belarus: globalization, innovation, sustainability" is held at the Belarusian state economic University. This year the event is held during the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Belarusian state University of Economics. More than 400 people take part in the conference.
