More than one million euro had to be paid to Belarusian travel agencies as compensation to tourists for the failed holiday after the bankruptcy of the Russian tour operator "Natalie tours", Chairman of the Board of the Republican Union of the tourism industry (RTI) of Belarus Philip Guly. He made this statement during a speech at the Russian-Belarusian Congress of the Alliance of travel agencies (ATA) and the RST. According to him, according to the Belarusian civil code, tourists should apply for compensation in case of problems to the place where they bought tourist products, that is, to a travel Agency.


"According to the law of the Republic of Belarus, the agent reimburses the entire cost of tourist products. Almost 1 million euros Belarusian travel agencies returned to their tourists, " - quoted Gulogo Agency RIA Novosti.

According to him, there were situations when the owners of travel agencies had to sell their apartments and cars to fulfill obligations to customers and not go to jail.

Since June 30, 2018, the Russian tour operator has stopped Charter programs to Barcelona, Naples, Rimini, Antalya, Catania and Heraklion, and on July 4, it was announced the cancellation of all tours until September 30. The company then informed customers that it was suspending all operations.

After the situation with the bankruptcy of "Natalie tours", which put the Belarusian agencies at risk, the Ministry of sports and tourism of Belarus supported the idea of creating a Fund for financial protection of tourists in case of bankruptcy of the operator.
