Egypt offers Belarus participation in projects of modernization of metro, tram lines and Railways

Egypt offers Belarus to participate in the projects on modernization of metro, tram lines and Railways, which are implemented in this country according to the plans for large-scale renewal of transport systems and introduction of new modes of transport. The corresponding proposal was announced by the Minister of transport of Egypt Kamel al-Vazir during a meeting with the Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov.


The parties discussed the prospects of development of bilateral cooperation in the field of environmentally friendly modes of transport. "The Egyptian side expressed interest in the use of trams and electric buses of JSC “Belkommunmash” in the creation of public transport systems in the new urban communities of Egypt, including the New administrative capital," the Embassy informed. In this regard, was the scheduled visit of the delegation of Belarusian enterprises in Egypt to explore areas of the construction of tram lines in the New administrative capital, the operating conditions of the tram and the discussion of conditions of cooperation.

In addition, the participants of the meeting discussed in detail the possibilities of the Belarusian side's participation in the projects on the development of the country's transport infrastructure implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of transport. Sergey Rachkov proposed to expand the use of Belarusian vehicles and equipment produced at joint ventures in Egypt.

"Agreements were reached to hold expert consultations with the management of the Holding company for the construction of roads and bridges of the Ministry of transport of Egypt in order to organize tests and study the possibilities of purchasing Belarusian cargo and road construction equipment produced by the Heluan machine-building plant and the company "ETP" of the Ministry of military industry of Egypt," the Embassy noted.
