The rapid wave of digitalization brings a new challenge for humanity – the need to strictly control the growth of carbon emissions. This ecological trend is now being followed by many countries around the world. Including Belarus. It is planned that our country will be able to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by that time. And Huawei's solutions will be able to help achieve this indicator – for several years now, the company has been purposefully developing the direction of digital energy around the world.
As Cui Feng, Vice President of Huawei's Digital Energy Department of the Eurasia Region, noted in his opening speech, this year Huawei has established a Digital energy department and regional business units in all regions of the world.
– Today, governments around the world are talking about carbon neutrality. This year Belarus also drew attention to green energy, in connection with which a number of orders were issued. We believe that the share of electricity in total energy consumption in the future will become higher and higher and will reach 50% in 2050; it is assumed that by 2050, clean energy will account for 90% of the energy enerated.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Energy of Belarus Olga Prudnikova noted the importance of such a summit.
– This is really a very important event. Now our country is at such a stage of implementation of tasks when we choose specific ways of development in the field of digitalization of energy, green economy, carbon-free development. A number of documents in this area have been adopted and continue to be developed. We must clearly understand what actions, what measures should be taken to keep up with the times.
The representative of the Ministry expressed confidence that the digitalization of energy will not only optimize the structure of electricity generation, but also carry out a lot of work on the creation of alternative energy sources.
– For us, this has always been an important task related to the diversification of the fuel and energy balance. And this work continues. I think the experience gained by Huawei will be very useful to Belarusian consumers, including serious industries–" Olga Prudnikova concluded.
Digital technologies and energy technologies are the two most important basic technologies in the field of digital energy. Huawei is constantly investing in research and development in these areas.
– In accordance with the direction of development of our business in the field of digital energy, we will expand in the areas of efficient power generation and efficient energy consumption. In the field of power generation, our main expansion direction is the production of solar energy, including inverters and energy storage systems," Cui Feng continued.
Among other things, Huawei intends to work with partners to create smart campuses and cities with low carbon emissions using its own cloud platform.
